SHARC 1 – The SHARC 1 column is the inaugural member of the SHARC™ series. SHARC™ columns represent the first commercially available columns that primarily utilize separation based on hydrogen bonding. SHARC™ is an acronym for Specific Hydrogen-bond Adsorption Resolution Chromatography.
Technology
The operational conditions for the SHARC 1 column are unique. A blend of acetonitrile (MeCN), a weak solvent, and methanol (MeOH), a strong solvent, is used as the mobile phase. Pure MeCN forms very insignificant hydrogen bonds with the SHARC stationary phase, while MeOH interacts strongly, reducing the retention of analytes based on its capacity to form hydrogen bonds. By altering the MeCN/MeOH ratio, an optimal retention profile can be achieved for a wide range of molecules, offering high selectivity, peak shape, efficiency, and speed.
