Non-endcapped ODS
YMC-Pack ODS-AL uses not only hydrophobic interaction, but also secondary interactions caused by silanol groups that affect separation. This results in a different selectivity from conventional ODS columns. When ionic interaction is utilized, it is preferable to use a buffer in the mobile phase to achieve the best reproducibility.
YMC-Pack ODS-AL is a non-endcapped, high carbon load, monomeric C18 phase. It is used only in those situations where residual silanol activity is beneficial to the separation.
It is not recommended for the analysis of amines or other compounds with basic functional groups present, as peak tailing may occur.
